    Jorge Macchi, Twilight, 2006

  1. 1

23 November 2006 - 22 December 2006

Jorge Macchi and composer Edgardo Rudnitzky have been collaborating since 1999, and represented Argentina at the 2005 Venice Biennale. Macchi and Rudnitzky were artists-in-residence with the AHRC funded Centre for Surrealism and its Legacies.

Twilight was one part of Light Music and was exhibited at firstsite@the minories in Colchester. The exhibition featured a special performance on 23 November 2006 in which glass percussionist Alasdair Malloy performed Rudnitzky's composition for Twilight

In 2010, ESCALA acquired Twilight by Jorge Macchi thanks to a generous grant from the Art Fund, the UK's leading independent art charity. The acquisition of this work reunites it with its companion piece - Singers' RoomTwilight was created in 2006 for an exhibition at firstsite@the minories and will now return to Colchester thanks to a grant of £17,556 from The Art Fund, the UK’s leading independent art charity, and a private donation. Twilight’s partner piece, Singers’ Room, which was shown at the Art Exchange at the same time in 2006, has recently been offered to ESCALA by Macchi and Rudnitzky. Together, they form Light Music.
