This Conference arises from the AHRC-funded project Weaving communities of Practice. Textiles, culture and identity in the Andes, based at CILAVS in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems at Birkbeck and the Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Aymara (ILCA) in La Paz, Bolivia. The Conference aims to expand the scope of the ideas developed during the project, by sharing ideas with more than 30 leading international experts in the field, including textile scholars and curators from a variety of overseas and UK museums.

The Meeting Margins International Conference: Transnational Art in Latin America and Europe 1950-1978 took place at the University of Essex on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of December 2010.

A one-day sympoisum on aspects of art and archaeology in Mexico and Central America supported by JISLAC, Joint Initiative for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Latin American Art and the UK, 1960s to the present, is the focus for a symposium at the University of Essex on Saturday 26 April, bringing together both emerging and leading scholars in this field.

The April 2005 conference Four Lines: Creation. Collection. Education. Exhibition launched UECLAA Online, and situate the project in relation to aspects of the rapidly expanding field of theory and practice that comes under the rubric Latin American Art.

For the second year running the annual UECLAA symposium, organised by UECLAA OnLine, was a great success and indicated that the future of Latin American art in the UK looks very positive.
