As part of a series of talks at the University focusing on art from Colombia in 2007/2008, Dr Maria Clara Bernal, Director of the postgraduate degree in Art History and Theory at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia will talk about her exhibition 'Displaced: Contemporary Art from Colombia.' 

The was at the Glyn Vivian Art Gallery in Swansea (6 October 2007 to 6 January 2008). The exhibition includes the work of 17 artists who engage with the huge changes in Colombian society caused by mass migration resulting from violence, political and social events, and changes to natural resources.

Dr Bernal is a graduate of the Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Essex, she is also an International Advisory Board member of the Essex Collection of Art from Latin America.
