The transformation of the Hexagon into a museum will return it to public use as an inspiring and stimulating environment in which to enjoy and learn about art from Latin America. Award-winning architects Long and Kentish are recognised for their sensitive conversion of heritage buildings into museums and galleries. Their projects include Pallant House, Chichester (Gulbenkian Museum and Galleries Prize, 2007), the British Library Centre for Conservation, St Pancras and the Jewish Museum, both in London.

Artworks by internationally renowned artists have been secured by the University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art (UECLAA) thanks to its close links with the organisers of the first ever PINTA Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art Show in London.

The University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art (UECLAA) has been awarded full accreditation by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA). This national quality standard confirms that UECLAA has met stringent guidelines on how it is run, how it looks after the collection, and the services it provides to users and visitors.
